Surprised by a Cowboy in a Black Hat

As the herd of businessmen gathers at the gate for a Southwest flight to Phoenix, our attention is drawn to a cowboy wearing a black hat. He’s talking on an iPhone and knows exactly who he is looking for. You would of thought they were old buddies, but they are complete strangers.

The cowboy walks right up to the guy sitting next to me, and hands him the iPhone. He says, “It’s your wife” then turns and walks away.

We’re all wondering what in the world is going on, but the phone conversation soon reveals the details. The businessman next to me dropped his cell phone somewhere in the Austin airport. The cowboy found it, picked it up, called the owner’s wife, and determined how to find him among the myriad of gates and people in the place.

The businessman and the crowd were all in shock: “An honest man”. They were all amazed that someone would return a cell phone, an iPhone at that, and then go to such great lengths to return it. A true good guy … wearing a back hat.

From a Texan’s perspective … it’s no big deal. He’s not the only one. It’s what you do. You do what is right. You help people. You stay true and honest.

The crowd at the airport didn’t see it that way, “There is one honest man left in the world”, “He’s an ole honest cowboy”. They went on and on about this strange phenomenon called an honest man.

I find it strange that they find it strange. Maybe, I’m still way too naive. Maybe, I really don’t understand the depth of man’s depravity. Maybe, I am really backwards. Thank God you and I are backwards from a backwards world, which makes it right, the true forward. Real progress and true blessings come from following His commands.

Thank God for an honest cowboy wearing a back hat. He changed the business world on a cold day in Austin, Texas. Pun intended.

Disclaimer: The events of this story are true and accurate, occurring on 2/10/2012. The names of those involved are unknown, thereby protecting the innocent and guilty alike, yours truly included. And yes, I have a black hat also; Just bought it and wearing it frequently.

The Sidelines of Life

Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,

As a Minister of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, I call on you this day to stand against immorality persisting in our land.

Since 1972, many of us have stood on the sidelines of the political field silently tolerating widespread disregard for human life. Seventy-seven thousand (77,811) unborn babies were terminated in Texas in the year 2007. Four-hundred seven thousand (407,453) Texas babies were born that year. That means sixteen percent (16%) of Texas babies were aborted in 2007.

It is past time to get serious about reducing this awful trend in our land.

It is our duty to elect God-fearing leaders. Many candidates today have little regard for the truth, much less the life of a poor unborn child. I know a candidate that is different … Dr. Donna Campbell.

Dr. Donna is running against Lloyd Doggett in Texas Congressional District Twenty-Five (Texas CD-25).

Congressman Doggett has consistently voted for policies and programs that allow wide-spread abortions to continue. Dr. Donna adopted her daughter, and has a great passion for life. She is an emergency room doctor that fully knows and fully appreciates the value of every life.

Please vote for LIFE! Vote for Dr. Donna Campbell, and spread the word about your passion for the life of the unborn. Vote for God-fearing candidates, donate to those that support life, talk about it, and … don’t be caught on the sidelines!

Show Announcement: Godly Children - The Lord's Desire

Godly Children. What more important task have you been assigned? Parents are often clueless about the lives of their teens, and are not intentional about raising godly children. Pastor Michael Wright knows all too well the fatal consequences of neglecting this divine calling.

Michael is the Senior Pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church in Liberty Hill, Texas. Pastor Wright preached an attention getting message on March 29th, "The Secret Life of a Teenager". You need to hear this message, and we all can learn from the message God has given him.

Listen to the Political Hope Radio Show this Sunday at 4 pm. We'll also review a new UT report on pre-teen sexual activity and discuss the Tea Parties, as we talk with Pastor Wright about raising godly children. Oh ... and yes, godly children and parenting does connect with politics, just in case you had any doubt.

Show Announcement: Small Town - Big Production

The Lord is risen! He is risen indeed! Blessings to you during the most significant celebration of the year. God is Sovereign over our mortal bodies. He has shown that He has power over even death, and promises to destroy the enemy of every man (1 Cor 15:26)

This Sunday on the Political Hope Radio Show, we'll talk about some significant events in the course of history, as well as the subtle changes that eventually produce major shifts. The cycle of humanity changes back and forth over time. Mankind waxes and wanes in relationship to God, and the tide of blessing ebbs and flows accordingly.

We'll be talking with Bob Hudgins of the Governor's Texas Film Commission. Bob is excited about the impact that film jobs have on Texas. We'll also visit with Adena Lewis of the Smithville Chamber of Commerce. Adena has first hand knowledge on the small town impact of big productions. Two movies have already been filmed in Smithville, and a third is on the way, if the Texas Legislature remains green on HB-873.

HB-873 expands an existing film incentive program in the Governor's Office. Does this bill typify the subtle compromises we often see from Republicans? Some have labeled it nothing more than bi-partisan pork. Democrat Donna Dukes is carry the bill for the Governor.

Wake up Patriots. Change is under your nose...

Coward Knight Racist in Marshall

Under the cover of night, the United White Knights still distribute their racist literature in Marshall, Texas. It is amazing that racism still rules the hearts of some, even here in the Great State of Texas and in the United State of America, today, the Year of Our Lord 2009. It is equally amazing that these "Knights" are afraid of the light. A white knight should shine with the light, rather than hide in the darkness. In our culture, even the pornographers spew their filth openly in the daylight and on prime-time television. Maybe racism is even more shameful than adultery and fornication, if that is possible...

May the Spirit of God convict us of sin, righteousness, and the judgment to come.

Klan literature thrown in two areas in Marshall

The presence of Ku Klux Klan pamphlets in driveways and yards surprised members of a number of households in the Marshall area this past week. But Hale Joseph, who remembers vividly the racial abuse she and her family lived through, says she's not at all shocked by the incident.

Opening the Border Agenda

Last week the State Affairs Committee moved its first round of bills out of committee. That represented 10 of 299 bills referred to the committee. In the Borders and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee nine bills were moved out of committee, and they have 32 to go. State Affairs is still facing 289 bills. In the 80th Legislature (2007) 87 of 201 bills made it out, leaving 114 stranded. Which issues will be stranded in committee this time around? Not that I'm suggesting being stranded is always a bad thing. Anyway ...

Among those on the long list of un-attended bill are illegal immigration issues. Illegal Immigration is likely to be the most pressing, yet un-attended, policy issues in the 81st Texas Legislature. When the nomination of Joe Strauss went down, it became clear. The issue of illegal immigration would likely the missing element of the Conservative agenda under the moderate leadership of Joe Strauss. I hope he proves me wrong.

Rep. Burt Solomons of Carrolton chairs the State Affairs Committee. Solomons was part of the ABC Gang. Other ABC Gang members are also on the Committee, along with freshman Diana Maldondo, and Tom Craddick himself. This Sunday we’ll find out Solomons' priority for immigration.

Rebecca Forest of IRCOT will be my guest. Rebecca is sold out for immigration reform and border security. Will her concerns get any traction under the leadership of Strauss and Solomons? Listen to the Political Hope Radio Show this Sunday at 4PM CT.

Rick Green Show Starts Today

I have good news and bad news. It's the same ole' story in that it doesn't matter what I say first, the second matter becomes obvious, and your heart is torn both ways at the same time.

The good news is that The Rick Green Show will go live on The Word KLGO 99.3 FM today from 4-6 PM CT. Rick was the youngest Texas State Representative ever elected, and he has a great passion for passing the Torch of Freedom to our next generation. My family has benefited directly from that passion, and you can see this in video testimony from Michael Bullock, my son. Watch the video >>. Check out Rick at http://www.rickgreen.com/.

The bad news is that Richard Curlee and the Homeward Bound Show are now gone from The Word. Richard Curlee has won the hearts of many folks, self included, as he faithfully served his listeners with a Texas brand of Christian news and humor. Richard will be missed by many (but not his hair, cuz it wasn't there in the first place :), and I am grateful for his coaching on the Political Hope Radio Show. Please take time to thank him! Richard, we love you, and we pray God's provision and encouragement as you move forward.

Rick, we know you'll bring a whole new realm of life to drive-time Christian talk radio in Austin. May God bless you, your family, and the show richly, as you honor His ways.

Everybody, turn to The Word now more than ever. The Word has many other great programs too. Listen on-air at FM 99.3 / 98.5 in Austin, or listen on-line at http://www.theword993.com/

Prayer Vigil at National Planned Parenthood Conference!

Event by George R. Brown Convention Center will include press conference www.texasfamilies.org

Source: www.uspastorcouncil.org, Friday, March 27th,
Planned Parenthood will have their 2009 Gala and Annual Awards ceremony at the George R. Brown Convention Center as part of their national convention. They will be honoring Hillary Clinton with their Margaret Sanger Award. We will be pointing out the direct link between Sanger, racism and the KKK!

We need you to join us for a prayer vigil on the sidewalk across the street from the George R. Brown beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a press conference following at 6:45 p.m.

We are sure that they want to show off their facility under construction. The fact that this national convention is being held in Houston emphasizes to us even more that Houston will be a major abortion hub for the southern part of the United States and South America.

We will gather in a parking lot on Jackson St. directly behind Annunciation Catholic Church at 1618 Texas Ave. at 6:00 PM and walk in a procession to the spot were we will stop and pray.

Important Note: In order to increase the impact of our public witness to the sanctity of human life, please wear red to the prayer vigil, in honor of all of the lives hurt by abortion.

This will be a legal and peaceful procession and prayer vigil; further instructions and a prayer booklet will be given to everyone before we leave the parking lot.

Please call the Houston Area Pastor Council office at 832-688-9166 with questions or for information. You may also call Houston Coalition for Life at 713-395-1330 or go to www.texasfamilies.org for additional details.

Fifth Sunday Family Celebration

Do you believe the Family is central to the success of America? Family is one of the four basic forms of earthly government set apart by God himself: self, family, church and civil government. The less we have of the former, the more we'll have of the later.

Please join me for a remote broadcast on Sunday, March 29th from 4-7 pm. We'll be at American Dream RV between Liberty Hill and Leander, Texas on U.S. 183. Five Christian Ministries in the area are gathered to celebrate God, family, and patriotism. Food, family friendly entertainment and a healthly dose of patriotism will be on hand.

Join us for the Political Hope Radio show every Sunday at 4 pm. This Sunday visit us in person for a Fifth Sunday Family Celebration at:

Show Announcement: The Transformation

What if I told you the story of a man that used to be on the liberal side of politics and Christian theology? What if I told you that a catastrophic event triggered a transformation to the right side? Would you be intrigued by a transformation from one spectrum of politics and religion to another?

The man is real, and so is his story. It is the story of Rob Hurlburt, founder of TakeUp.Org, and he's going to tell it this Sunday, January 25th, on the Political Hope Radio Show.

I have often wondered how Christians could be so divided on politics, while reading the same Bible? Could it have to do with the work of the Spirit's conviction in our hearts. Does it have to do with the way we read the Bible? What is behind the political and theological separations in the Christian community? Rob's story will help us understand.

The work of the church is like a candle wick that draws the transforming power of the Holy Spirit into the lives of human-beings. The work of the church is paramount to changing this culture. Yet, in this age, we see many U.S. churches in a state of decline. This Sunday we'll also hear from Pastor Rick Hertless of Meadowbrook Baptist Church. Pastor Rick will tell us about the inspiring work of their church in Rockdale, Texas and the mission partner they have in Austin, Great Hills Baptist church.

I'm excited to tell you more about the Commit to Christ Bride program that was launched in Rockdale this past Thursday. Love for Christ' Bride is essential to understanding the call of God in our lives. The Bride of Christ has been relegated to the back room of an abandoned home. It's time to bring her back into the open, love her, and cherish her, as does Christ himself.

Join us this Sunday as we talk about transformation and Christ' Bride, the church. Call the Political Hope Radio Show to voice your opinion every Sunday at 4 pm CDT. You can hear us on The Word 98.5 & 99.3 KLGO FM Radio in Austin, or listen to live streaming audio on-line ...

We need your calls to stir the discussion. Pick up the phone and join the discussion every Sunday at 4pm. The call in numbers are ...
