The Mommy TAKS

The TAKS Tests are over. The kids are relieved, but will mommy be happy? The ultimate in school accountability is the “mommy TAKS”. Forget the Texas Assessment of Knowledge & Skills; momma’s assessment is what really counts.

Cynthia Nolan Dunbar & Dr. Kris Sloan are experts on School Accountability. Both are well educated. Kris has written a book, Holding Schools Accountable: A Handbook for Educators and Parents. Cynthia serves on the Texas State Board of Education and brings with her the mommy skills of Tenderness, Affirmation, Knowledge & Spirituality.

Can the State or Federal government inspire what a loving mother does out of passion for her own children? Is there any substitute for parental accountability? Should the State ever have authority over education that supersedes that of parents?

Join us for a Special Mother's Day broadcast with Cynthia Dunbar & Dr. Kris Sloan. This show will air on Sunday, May 10th and May 24th of 2009 at 4pm. Be sure to read THE STACK.

Abstaining from Christian Ed

On one hand you have the Condoms and Clorox crowd calling for "comprehensive" sex education. On the other you have those calling for an exodus of Christians from the public school system. Scattered in between are those that think education problems lie with the government, the teachers, other kids, other schools, other parents, and a host of other failures that DO NOT include self. The common element I see is that no one is saying, "the responsibility lies with me".

It is clear that Christian values and Biblical education are on the decline in American culture. While Texas' current education code requires abstinence based sex education, is the real problem mass abstinence from true Christian Education? It is reasonable to expect our kids to receive a Christian Education while attended public or private schools? And are national Christian Ministries enabling the status-quo on Christian Ed in American?

These questions and more will be addressed this Sunday, March 8th, on the Political Hope Radio Show. Ret. LTC E. Ray Moore with Exodus Mandate will be our guest to discuss Exodus Mandate's Report Card on National Christian Ministries. Also joining the show is Associate Professor Kris Sloan of St. Edwards University in Austin. Professor Sloan has spent much time assessing school accountability, specifically the No Child Left Behind policy. He is also the author of a recent book, "Holding Schools Accountable: A Handbook for Educators and Parents".

When it comes to education, does the buck stop with you as a parent? Join us for the Political Hope Radio show this Sunday at 4 pm, and call with your questions or comments about Christian Education in America.
