Light Dawns for Unborn Poor in Austin

Some time around 1974 the City of Austin began turning out the lights on the unborn poor. Tonight the light shines a bit brighter for them. Most would count tonight a great loss. I count it as the small step toward shining the light on a dark part of Austin in need of more exposure.

This past October we became aware of expiring "termination service" contracts between the Travis County Health District (TCHD) and local Austin abortion providers. Thanks to people like Dina Meyer and Dr. Joe Pojman of Texas Alliance for Life the vote on those contracts was pushed out to November. Additional light and pressure was applied and the decision was put off again. Finally, tonight the board voted.

Large complaints could be lobbied over the stacked deck of cards the TCHD staff dealt out tonight at the public hearing. The deception surrounding this issue is astounding. Rather, let's focus on the positive. Railroad Commissioner, Victor Carrillo, spoke boldly on behalf of the unborn poor. TCHD board member Clarke Heidrick publicly acknowledged the deception associated with the presentation and hearings on the 2004 contract accepted from the City of Austin. He also expressed concerns over the counseling offered by money driven abortion providers. Another member offered an amendment to fund abortion alternatives to the tune of $450,000. Much light as been shed on the situation, and faithful followers of Christ have been awaken to this issue.

The Austin community has come together to fight this battle, and we have only just begun. Texas Alliance for Life, the Catholic Diosese of Austin, the Austin Pregnancy Resource Center, Austin Coalition for Life, Free Market Foundation, the Austin Area Pastor Council and many taxpaying citizens have united to bring an end to "termination services" funded by Travis County property taxes.

Ultimately we know that being born poor is much better than being killed in the womb. Ultimately we know that good triumphs over evil, mercy triumphs over judgement, and life wins out over death. We will persist. We will stay in this battle to give light to the unborn poor. We will remain faithful to the end.

Pray for the unborn poor tonight and tomorrow and in the days and nights following. Pray, talk to others, and attend the TCHD meetings until the full light of dawn shines for the most vulnerable among us ... the unborn poor.

City of Austin Termination Services

I hope that title stirs your imagination. There are all kinds of services provided by the City of Austin. Most of them are legitimate for a civil community. Yet, we’ve recently come to realize that some of the “services” provided by the City of Austin are more like a hit man contract from the City of Corruption, Chicago.

Termination services “required” by the City of Austin were picked up by the Travis County Healthcare District (TCHD) in 2005. We’re talking about pregnancy termination services. We’re talking about abortion; the termination of innocent human life. And we’re talking to the tune of $450,000 per year.

Actual expenses for “termination services” paid by TCHD from Oct 2008 - Sep 2009 were $282,313. While I am grateful it wasn’t $450,000, it does represent over 600 aborted human babies. Travis County had 3,748 abortions and 16,152 live births in 2006.

TCHD is providing free “termination services” to low income women that qualify for the Medical Assistance Program (MAP) or State of Texas Medicaid. Your Travis County property tax payments fund these abhorrent termination services. With the City of Austin contract expiring, we have a great opportunity to terminate taxpayer funded ”termination services”.

Express your viewpoint an the TCHD public hearing on Thursday, Dec 10th.

FACT SHEET on Travis County Health District (TCHD) Taxpayer Funded Abortion

In 2005 the Travis County Health District accepted assignment of a 2004 agreement between the City of Austin and Whole Woman’s Health of Austin for “termination services”.

The 2004 City of Austin Pregnancy Termination Contract:

  • Provides elective abortions to healthy low-income women (MAP or Medicaid).
o States, “the City has a requirement for a licensed facility to provide pregnancy termination services to women enrolled in the Medical Assistance Program (MAP) or the State of Texas Medicaid program”.
  • Limits abortions to the first 13 weeks based on gestational age.
  • Specifies exact charges for “termination services”.
  • Specifies $450,000 payable to three abortion providers. The fifth year contract term, Dec. 2008 extension, was not to exceed $787,053.

TCHD has a new contract proposal with “women’s services” providers who perform abortions.

  • THCD is considering a $450,000 contract proposal.
  • Actual expenses for the expired contract from 10/1/08 – 9/30/09 were $283,313. (1)
  • $450,000 of taxpayer money could fund over 1,000 abortions. (2)

Travis County reported 3,675 “induced terminations” (abortions) in 2007. (3)

  • In 2006 Travis County had 3,748 abortions and 16,152 live births (TDHS).
  • Only 216 of 77,881 abortions performed in Texas during 2007 were NOT associated with common elective abortion procedures. (4)

A recent Gallup Poll on abortion among U.S. Citizens finds:

  • More citizens now describe themselves as “pro-life”. (5)
  • Fifty-seven percent say abortion should only be legal in certain circumstances. (5)

Fifty-nine percent of Protestant Christians describe themselves as “pro-life”. (6)

Coalition Calls for a Renewed Focus on Western Civilization and Ethics Coursework in Texas Colleges and Universities

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Bill Noble
Wednesday, August 26, 2009 512-474-2005 Office

Coalition Calls for a Renewed Focus on Western Civilization and Ethics Coursework in Texas Colleges and Universities Asks lawmakers to study the value of fostering greater civic knowledge

AUSTIN – As classes begin today at the University of Texas at Austin and other institutions around the state, a new coalition has launched an effort to enhance the quality of higher education in Texas. Responding to a diminishing emphasis on Western civilization coursework in Texas and elsewhere, the Coalition for American Traditions and Ethics (CATE) is encouraging Texas colleges and universities to develop coursework and programs that give students a strong background in American ideals, institutions, and traditions.

“There is an increasing demand for an emphasis on the fundamental values and principles of our country,” said Bill Noble, spokesman for CATE Texas. “We will work with lawmakers and other interested parties to achieve our goal to provide Texas college and university students a solid grounding in civic responsibility and ethical character.”

The coalition believes that Texas colleges and universities will have an opportunity to attract new students and professors and to stand out on the national level by establishing and developing these programs. Students will benefit from the skills they learn as employers increasingly seek graduates with a comprehensive education who also demonstrate civic responsibility and ethical behavior.

“Coursework that captures American ideals, institutions and traditions from the Greek and Roman classics to the original documents of our country’s founding helps to develop a student’s critical thinking skills and makes them – and our state – more competitive in today’s global economy,” said Bill Hammond, president of the Texas Association of Business. “More importantly, thorough exposure to coursework exploring moral questions and the founding principles of our great country serves to prepare students to face the myriad of ethical challenges that arise in their day-to-day lives.”

In addition to encouraging Texas colleges and universities to create coursework and programs focusing on Western civilization and American traditions, the coalition is asking lawmakers to study the value and benefits of such coursework and programs and to determine the most appropriate structure for facilitating these programs on university campuses.

“We want all interested parties to have an opportunity to present their thoughts and ideas to lawmakers during an interim study of the issue,” said Noble. “We believe there can be strong agreement from across the political spectrum to the value and benefits of strengthening university students’ knowledge of the ideas and ethical principles that have contributed to the foundation of our country.”

The Coalition for American Traditions and Ethics in Texas (CATE) is a broad-based coalition including university faculty, civic leaders, students and employers united in an effort to promote the establishment of coursework and programs studying Western civilization and American traditions to foster the development of ethical character and civic responsibility among Texas college and university students. America's Darkest Hour - Forced Sterilization

Tertullian: Famine and War Prevent Overpopulation
Source: www.wikipedia.com - eugencis
Tertullian, an early Christian author (ca AD 160-220), was one of the first to describe famine and war as factors that can prevent overpopulation.[9] He wrote: "The strongest witness is the vast population of the earth to which we are a burden and she scarcely can provide for our needs; as our demands grow greater, our complaints against Nature's inadequacy are heard by all. The scourges of pestilence, famine, wars and earthquakes have come to be regarded as a blessing to overcrowded nations, since they serve to prune away the luxuriant growth of the human race."[10]

Forced abortions, mandatory sterilization, global governance -- these are just some of the ideas Obama's science advisor has supported in the past. According to a Fox News article, John Holdren -- President Obama's "science czar" -- has espoused the need for forced abortions, sterilizations, and the creation of a "Planetary Regime" that would oversee population levels and protect the planet. The ideas are contained in a book he coauthored in 1977 entitled Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment.

Fighting Obesity with Obesity

You've heard it a thousand times, "You can't fight fire with fire". Apparently House Democrats and President Obama think they are Red Adair.

While Red proved there is at least one circumstance where the old cliche comes up short, I wonder if the Dems are considering the explosive and damaging consequences of his procedure. When Red used fire to put out fires, he literally blew the fire up to extinguish it.

Maybe this is what Democrats desire. It is certainly plausible that they will destroy the country and some number of people with their obese health care proposal. Have you seen the massive chart of bureaucratic paper pushing they invision to solve the inflamed health care crisis?

The Democrats' socialistic Health-Care Reform proposal fights obesity with obesity. While Americans are increasingly inflamed by bloated diets, a lack of exercise and other behavioral risks, the Democrats want to increase the size of government to fight the problem. The problem is not a lack of government programs. The problem is a lack of American's that are responsible for their own health. The problem is Americans that are increasingly dependent on entitlements, rather than their own good choices. The problem is a nation that is already dependent upon government, corporate, and institutional health subsidies.
No one can own your health for you. It is your responsibility. If you want the liberty to eat want you want; if you want the freedom to abort your own child and get in bed with whatever diseases you choose, DON'T ASK ME TO PAY FOR IT! Health is your choice and your responsibility. Adding a more obeseity to an already obese U.S. government and U.S. population will only create a greater explosion! If you want to fix the health care crisis in American, remove the bloated government regulations that are in the way, and let the people have liberty!

Patriotism Now in the Spirit of 1776

You will not believe the audacity of these folks. I pray it inspires you. A new era of Patriotism has dawned in America. While we were not previously lacking for political action groups, we were lacking for people in those groups. Now the number of groups, number of citizens involved, and the frustration level of Americans in rising exponentially.

Oh yes, we are a persistent people. We are a hard-working, industrious bunch, and we don't back down from what is right and true. A new day has dawned on these Sacred Shores. We will stand for justice, righteousness, and liberty. We will celebrate Patriotism Now in the Spirit of 1776. We will re-unite with the values and principles of 9-12-2001 and July Forth of 1776!

You're going to love our guests this week. These are common men that love America, and they have paused to render aid to our nation. They are willingly sacrificing their time, talent, and treasure to defend the liberties granted by the Hand of the Almighty to We The People.

Flushing Long Island Quakers

American History never ceases to amaze me. Pastor Bill Hart of Austin recently shared a bit of history behind a Signer of the Declaration of Independence, John Hart. John Hart descended from Edward Hart, the City Clerk of Flushing, New York in the year 1657.

It seams the Quakers of 1657 were offensive to the Reform Dutch Church of the day. While the powers that be took exception to actions of the Quakers and arrested them. The locals failed to find fault in these Men of God.

Ed Hart drafted and signed the Flushing Remonstrance in protest to the authorities. This act cost him his job and time in jail. Hart and others were punished for their convictions with jail-time, banishment, and/or other penalties.

Experts assert the Flushing Remonstrance is directly connected to the First Freedom listed in the Bill of Rights. The Flushing Remonstrance was commemorated with a Religious Freedom postage stamp on December 27, 1957.

The modern day equivalent of persecutors inside the Reform Dutch Church is the ACLU, along side of the AU and the Freedom From Religion bunch. These so called civil liberty lovers hate the public actions evangelical protestants. They hate it when evangelicals prayer in public, especially in the Name of Jesus. They hate it when the Biblical teachings on sin are espoused. They hate it when the little children are taught the Christian religion, and they hate it when schools have the audacity to prayer. The ACLU believes attempts to minimize evangelicals as quacks. And the ACLU would love flushing the quacks off Long Island and the remainder of the continent.

The battle over Religious Liberty in American, the battle for the very soul of a nation, rages yet today. Join us on Sunday, July 25th for the First Anniversary of the Political Hope Radio Show with our first ever guest, Jerald Finney, and Pastor David Newsome. Jerald is a Christian Lawyer and author of the book, God Betrayed. David is Pastor of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in Temple and led the call for prayer when the U.S. Supreme Court told Santa Fe ISD to stop.

Red Pill? Blue Pill?

"You take the blue pill, the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes."

Congressman Henry Waxman only offers blue pills, and you must swallow quickly. Representative Joe Barton is begging for time to peruse the Healthcare Reform Act of 2009. House Democrats plan to introduce and pass a bill impacting more than 20% of the U.S. G.D.P., while you’re still dreaming about how the wonders MJ.

I echo Representative Barton's call, "It is time to flood the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121". The Democrats and President Obama’s administration apparently misunderstand our vocabulary. This time the word is transparency. While most consider government transparency to imply visibility; Obama apparently was thinking of invisibility while speaking his campaign promises. Obama, Waxman, and company do not want you or the U.S. House to see the blue pill of panacea they are about to ram down America’s throat.

Socialized medicine is coming to America unless you can quickly find the red pill. Taking the red pill is equivalent to swallowing the harsh reality that you are the biggest contributor to health care costs. Many Americans are choosing risky health behaviors, and that is choking our health care system. Join Arlene Wohlgemuth and me for the Political Hope Radio Show this Sunday as we discuss Behavioral Health Risks and propose alternatives to a Universal Healthcare System.

Arlene is a Senior Fellow at the Texas Public Policy Foundation Center for Health Care Policy. She served in the 74th - 78th Texas Legislatures for District 58 (Burleson). Ms. Wohlgemuth authored HB 2292 (78th) , the sweeping reform of Health and Human Services which improved service delivery for the recipients, saving taxpayers more than $3.7B during its first five years. The reforms consolidated twelve agencies into five, and represented the largest government reform bill ever passed in the state.

I love those Red Pills take bring Government Reform...

If My People ...

We speak the verse often. This coming Sunday is your opportunity to truly apply it.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. - 2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV

Break it down with me ...

  • If my people ... who are called by my name, and
  • If my people ... will humble themselves, and
  • If my people ... will pray, and
  • If my people ... will seek my face, and
  • If my people ... will turn from their wicked ways ... then ...
  • I will hear from heaven, and
  • I will forgive their sin, and
  • I will heal their land.

That is the Word of The Lord. That is His promise. It is not an unconditional promise. His hearing, His Healing and His Forgiveness must be preceded by true repentance. Do you honestly believe those that do not repent will be saved? Do you think we can continue in the ways of man and the ways of the world, and receive His blessing? Do you think America will be healed, if she stays on the same moral trajectory and continues to distance herself from the Lord?

I cannot exclaim loud enough or far enough how urgently important it is for America to REPENT! It's the Call 2 Fall. Join me Sunday at 4 pm live via internet or 99.3 FM Radio in Austin. Pastor Kermitt Bell of Glad Tidings and Mark Williamson of Federal Intercessors are my guests as we call Austin, Texas, USA to fall before the Lord. It is time to turn from our wicked ways, and receive the Righteousness that comes from God through faith in Christ.

Listen to Political Hope this Sunday at 4pm and call us with your prayer of repentance.

Also, please post your favorite show topic or guest on our blog, or reply via email. We need your input as we come up on our one year anniversary! Past show titles and recordings are available at www.politicalhope.com/program.

Corporations Destroying Free Market Healthcare

Statement: Contemporary corporate and institutional healthcare plans in the United States work against free market forces and subsidize poor health in America.

Hypothesis: Large risk pools associated with corporations and institutions remove the financial consequences of risky behaviors that lead to poor health, higher healthcare demand, and higher healthcare cost.

Free Market Healthcare Facts:

  • Less demand for healthcare will lower healthcare costs.
  • Living healthier lifestyles and reducing behavioral health risks will lower healthcare costs.
  • Healthy and responsible Americans can buy health insurance at a lower rate than large risks pools (this is the exception rather than the norm).
  • Purchasers are more frugal when paying for goods or services out of their own wallet.

Observations:

  • Twenty-seven percent (27%) of Americans are obese in addition to thirty-six percent (36%) that are overweight, which leaves only thirty-seven percent (37%) that are neither overweight nor obese.
  • Small businesses, the self-employed, and individuals normally pay more for health insurance than larger risk pools, in part because they must bear the free market forces on an individual basis. These free market forces reflect personal health risks and personal financial risks. When two persons have the same health risks, the person with a poor credit history will pay more than the person with a better credit rating. When two people have the same credit rating, the person with better health (lower health risk) pays less.
  • Corporate and institutional employees pay the same rate for health insurance, regardless of the risks associated with their lifestyles choices, current health condition or credit rating.
  • When health expenses are managed by a third party, the system is more likely to be abused or mismanaged.
  • U.S. healthcare spending as a portion of the GDP is almost four times greater in 2009 than 1969.

Proposal to Restore the Free Market: U.S. corporations and institutions are urged to stop subsidizing behavior health risks. Health insurance costs of individual employees should be rated according individual risk. Corporation should make statistics on the spectrum of employee healthcare costs visible to officers and shareholders, and to make personal healthcare cost benefits visible to employees in comparison to overall employee trends. Corporations and institutions should hold employees financially accountable for their health performance/costs, rather than subsidizing unhealthy behaviors of irresponsible employees. This proposal may be implemented in with various methods. The goal is to ensure employees bear the burden of their behavioral health risks. This will create more personal responsibility in living a healthy life style and thereby reduce healthcare costs.

God Save the U.S.A.

Days of Rage to Cyber Terror

In the late 60's the violent Days of Rage became the voice of the Weather Underground and those opposing the Vietnam War and supposed U.S. imperialism. In the early 1900s bombs were used to attack the LA Times and the JP Morgan Bank building on Wall Street. From 1978 to 1995 it was the UNABOM'er. Then came the horrific events of 9/11/2001 followed by Anthrax threats. We now face cyber-threats that may launched from anywhere in the world, potentially bringing disaster upon the U.S. masses.

While the face of terror has changed, the cowardice behind it has not. The terrorist is loud and proud in the protest or rally, but then hides in the crowd or in the distance as he brings a violent end to his enemy or a representative target.

Tea, Crosses, CPS & ACLU

Ever get the impression some people hate the American way of Life? Is there a possibility some folks are out to remake or even destroy the Land of the Free? Sure, there are Radical Islamic Fundies that want to kill the Great Satan, America. But what about those that are seeking to implode the American way of life from within?

Friends, the Progressive agenda is ruling the day, and it has been sneaking into America culture for many decades. For instance, the ACLU has been closely coupled to communism from its inception in 1920. You can read more about "The ACLU's shocking legacy" in Alan Sears World Net Daily commentary from 2005.

The ALCU is still seeking to destroy a Mohave Desert War Memorial featuring a cross along with other American Christian icons. They embrace Hate Crimes Legislation, protecting pedophiles and other fornicators over a students right to pray. All of this, and we haven't mentioned the primary impetus for recent Tea Parties. The Progressive movement is changing this country right underneath your nose.

Freedom Season: We Still Wave Ole’ Glory

Flag Day Special Edition

We still wave ole’ glory down at the court house. We like livin’ right and being free! If you’re not livin’ right; you’re not free. You are trapped by Satan. If this nation is not livin’ right, this nation is not free! It is trapped by Satan. True liberty is found only in Jesus Christ. He is the Liberator in Chief.

Big gov’ment can’t set you free! Pres Bo can’t set you free, but if The Lord sets you free, you will be free indeed. God is our hope and our salvation. Yes, even our Political Hope. No king is saved by the size of his army. It is the Lord that saves!

No man knows these truths better than the one who said, “Give me liberty or give me death!” Patrick Henry (Lance Hurley) is our guest on the Political Hope Radio Show on Flag Day; the banner of an independent people. People controlled not by the strong arm of government, but the outstretched arm of The Lord. At least that’s the way it should be. If you want solutions, do as Patrick Henry did, turn to the Lord.

Don Bebee, Founder of the American Family Reunion Proclamation, will also join us to talk about Freedom Season. Don urges us all to have an extended celebration of patriotism in the Spirit of 1776! Join us this Sunday, June 14th, Flag Day as we examine the battles Patrick Henry fought for our benefit, and proudly wave Ole Glory!

It took a couple of awkward weeks, but Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano finally issued a real apology to American military veterans. Recall in early April, at her direction, DHS issued a sloppy, politically slanted “warning” about potential domestic terrorism. Insulting language fingered “disgruntled” military veterans as potential recruits for violent (likely “right-wing”) organizations.

The Christian America Debate Continues
Source: www.americanvision.org, Gary DeMar, 6/01/09
Every society is founded on some ultimate principle. It might be the absolutism of a single ruler, the majority-rule concept of a pure democracy where the “voice of the people is considered to be the voice of God” (vox populi, vox dei), or an oligarchy where a self-appointed group of experts claim sovereignty and control. A system of values (laws) flows from this fundamental operating principle even among regimes as diverse as Nazism, Communism, Fascism, and Socialism. Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez make the claim that their socialistic system of rule is the best form government. Adolf Hitler made the same argument for his brand of National Socialism as did Lenin and Stalin for Communism. No government ever argues that its system is evil and bad for the people.

Key wins are adoption of conservative budget and defeat of higher taxes

Taxpayers fared well this legislative session, according to the post-session assessment of the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
“The Legislature adopted a relatively conservative budget, needed eminent domain reform, and improved public school accountability, while cutting taxes for small businesses,” said Justin Keener, the Foundation’s vice president of policy and communications. “To taxpayers’ relief, they defeated the expansion of government-run health insurance and several tax increases. Texas remains poised for a bounce back from the global recession thanks to lawmakers’ actions to maintain our state’s competitive edge of low taxes and a reasonable regulatory environment.”
