Darwinian Duplicity Depletes In-Dependence

The M.O. is unmistakable: Take your agenda, flip it on the opposition, and scream fowl at the top of your lungs! Logic is non-existent. Out of one side of your mouth say one thing. Out of the other side, say another. The issues run the full gamut of the political spectrum. In the crosshairs this Sunday, is the Humanist doctrine of Evolutionary Origins. The agenda of T.F.N. and their comrades depletes Liberty in our Great State.

Evolutionary Origins (a.k.a. neo-Darwinism) asserts that random processes produce greater intelligence in natural organisms. Great debate over origins is still evident in casual conversations among scientists, while the voice of formal secular science heralds the notion that the argument is settled and Texas schools need to protect the children from Intelligent Design and Creationist indoctrination carried by Biblical Theists.
I wonder who is protecting our children from the Humanist Religion that depletes
self-responsibility and moral awareness. Who will protect our school children
from the brainwashing of the Secular Humanist Ideology and the maniacal
doctrines that limit thinking and debate?

This Sunday, March 1st, Dave Welch of the U.S. Pastor Council, and Jonathan Saenz of the Free Market Foundation will help us consider the state of Evolutionary Origins in the church and the public schools. Many Pastors are summarily chastised by congregants, dare they challenge Neo-Darwinian thought. The Texas State Board of Education has been manipulated by Humanists who claim teaching of weaknesses on Evolutionary Theory will hurt Texas students’ ability to pursue careers. David Welch and Jonathan Saenz will help us assess the current situation in our churches and schools, and prepares us to take action that will reverse the depletion of liberty in our Great State.

Tightening the Tolerence

Those in mechanical engineering understand that tolerances are important. In all types of machines and electronic gadgetry, the tolerance of operating parameters is central to functionality and product life. Known tolerances ensure you get a good end result. A few Texas Legislators understand this principle. They are applying it to State Budget growth.

Most anyone that is paying attention, understands that loose tolerances have played a big role in sinking the mortgage market in the U.S. Widen the tolerance on mortgage qualifications got plenty of people in trouble, and now the whole banking industry is volatile, as is the U.S. economy.

Texas is different. While we can certainly consider that past Legislatures have done a good job managing state monies, we should also consider the role that property taxes may played in stabilizing Texas' mortgage market.

Texas was 44th in home ownership rates among the states in the 2006 Census Data. The national average was 70% for 2006, while Texas was at 66%, and West Virginia was best at 78%. Texas' economy has been good, many people have bought Texas homes in recent years, and builders were certainly building houses. With the circumstances being favorable as they were, why are we so low in the ratings? Better yet, is that even a bad thing?

Property Taxes are a significant factor in the cost of home ownership in Texas. That factor can make it harder to qualify and might be keeping people out of home ownership. And again, is that a bad thing? With the recent mortgage crisis, the higher property tax rate, may have kept some people out of home ownership, who would now be under foreclosure.

The point is that tighter tolerances are good. Texas Representative Ken Paxton and Senator Dan Patrick have filed bills that will constrain state budget forecasting measures to metrics that are more stable, realistic, and predictable (i.e. population growth, plus inflation). House Bill 994 , would tighten the tolerance on budget projections, and help keep state spending on a prudent track. Along with a host of supporting organizations and colleagues, Representative Paxton & Senator Patrick should be applauded.

Your Responsibility; Your Choice

Education of our children is an awesome responsibility. Men are often more concerned about funding the family and career matters over the education of children. I can't help but think that in our moment of accountability before the Lord we will regret that focus. Godly children and Godly education must be central to our focus as fathers. It's our responsibility, and our choice in how to do it.

To that end, I encourage you to register with www.letschooseschools.com Lets Choose Schools promotes School Choice Legislation for Texas. On Wednesday, February 25th, they are giving away $20,000 in funding for school choice. Lottery drawings of $1,000 for private school students, $500 for home-schools students, and $250 for public school enrichment classes will be made on the South Steps of the Capitol. The group will also sponsor lobbyists activities for that afternoon.
You need to visit www.letschooseschools.com are get registered today for your benefit and the benefit of School Choice in Texas.

I also call to your attention a report by Exodus Mandate. They have issued a report card on National Christian Ministries. The report grades ADF, AFA, Focus on the Family and others regarding their policies on Christian Education. You may disagree, but the report will stimulate a few thoughts. Exodus Mandate calls for Christians to leave the Public School system.

And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. Deut 6:6-7 (ESV)

Honorable Men Close Their Eyes for This Stuff

Maybe, I'm delusional. Maybe, I expect too much. Maybe, I'm just another right-wing kook. Maybe, I just don't understand what is honorable and right.

The Founding Patriots likely had far greater character than I have ever sought or can even comprehend. Many of them had educations that put mine to total shame. When I think of honorable men, I think of the many who risked their throat birthing a nation conceived in liberty. Somehow, I don't think they built our Republic with their eyes closed.

This past Red Friday "honorable" men closed their eyes and hollered "aye" for a bill they had not ever read, much less understood. I guess that's what honorable men do. When it's Friday the 13th and a horrific event is occurring, close your eyes. When the horrible stench of tyranny gets too bad to tolerate, pinch your nose, and walk right on by. (Watch Video)

I don't think so. If you are not outraged, let me incite you. This is ABSOLUTELY DISHONORABLE!!! This is the most BLOODY RED FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH in U.S. History! Were there not recent promises to do right by the American people? Were there not recent promises to clean-up Washington? Was not the Presidential campaign won on promises to restore confidence in our government?

If you are an honorable man; if you care about the U.S.A., you must call attention to this great travesty! I urge you to express outrage with the White House. How in the world can we trust men who make law with their eyes closed? This outrageous absurdity demands a loud voice of disdain!

Show Announcment: Taking a Bite Out of D-I-V-O-R-C-E

One in four teen girls has an STD,
One in three new dads is MIA, and
One in two marriages end in D-I-V-O-R-C-E!

Let me spell it out for you. We need G-O-D in the USA. Pulpits are silent and Malachi 2 is heralded no more; some one must speak and act to halt rampant D-I-V-O-R-C-E.

Divorce Reform and Covenant Marriage are making their way around the State Legislatures. In Texas, Representative Warren Chisum has filed a bill (HB-480) to make no-fault divorces a bit harder to obtain. The bill would require counseling before divorce on the grounds of in-supportability.

No-fault divorces are only a portion of all divorces. Does HB-480 have enough teeth to take a bite out of D-I-V-O-R-C-E? Join me this Sunday at 4 pm CST for the Political Hope Radio Show, as we talk over the state of marriage and divorce in Texas. Representative Chisum will be on hand to talk about Divorce Reform and take your calls.

Bob Schoolfield of Let's Choose Schools will also join the show to tell us about an upcoming School Choice Raffle and Rally on Wed. February 25th. You could win a school choice scholarship prize.

Endangered Species

There are always themes in our lives. Our recognition of those themes can be a problem, but I did catch this one. Bill Federer has a new book called, "Endangered Speeches". I kept calling it "Endangered Species" this past Sunday. That just happens to be a common mantra of salamander lovers here in Austin.

Another endangered species is the history lover. History is an amazing teacher, and progressives love to kill it. Progressives preserve amphibians and mother nature, over people, much less national history, a person's home, or a historical site.

Preservation Texas just came out with their Most Endangered Places list. I love old buildings and the history that they speak to. I also love people, plants, and animals. You can figure out the order of importance on your own. Either way consider what Preservation Texas has to say. Salamanders and speeches aren't the only items that need to be on a most endangered list.

Don't Kick Texas' Bucket

Wrangling over the Texas budget will be a major past-time for the 81st Texas Legislature. Let's just make sure they don't kick the bucket during all of the horse-play; The Rainy Day Bucket that is.

Texas has a considerable Rainy Day Fund. With income down, catastrophe expenses still in mind, gaps in current programs, plus new spending proposals, that bucket could wind-up discarded on the side of the freeway. Some would love to spend the whole amount, while Conservatives know that it must be used selectively, and it must be replenished. A bucket is an important implement to a farmer. City folks some times don't get that.

Here are some articles to consider. Be sure to keep the pressure on your elected officials. Visit www.politicalhope.com/resources to find yours.

And the Atheists Continue to Count

I can imagine them sitting back, watching the computer, and laughing. Their observations about Christians have proven true over and over. In fact, they may be approaching boredom with the amusing scheme. It's so predictable. You email untrue non-sense to a few Christians and watch the tall tale spread like wild-fire over the Internet.

Indeed the story you've just read is made-up. I fabricated it. The principle remains. Christians are notorious for spreading myths. I need not bring up Santa Claus. Christians pass urban legends from one email account to ten, or twenty more, and it cannot be stopped. The urban legend is now accepted as true. Years and years after the lie was first written, it continues to circulate on the Internet. Should you just stop forwarding emails? No, you don't have to go that far.

You simply need to check a few key facts. If the email is questionable, if it's not from a known reliable source, you'll need a little time to check the basic facts. If you don't have the time or energy, and the email is suspicious, don't push that forward button.

Here are the basics. Look for key facts in the story. Is there a primary source mentioned? Is anyone taking credit for the story? Where and when did it occur? Then take these basic facts and feed them back into a search engine. Google has a specific news search feature. If you visit http://news.google.com, you can search news outlets for the story. Normally a true news story will show up with a search on Google news. If that fails, run the same search on a regular web-search with Google or Yahoo. One click will take you from news to web search on Google.

If the story is not in the news, it may pop up on Snopes or Urban Legends right away. That does not automatically mean the story is false. Sometimes, details have been changed, or the story is really true. Either way, you want to be known for passing along truth, not mythical, or manipulated stories.

The other aspect of this issue is discerning opinion amidst news. We can all read the same story in the news or the Bible and walk away with different impressions. We can see the same events from different angles. Opinion is an interpretation or an assessment. On that front, you're free to pass along opinions, but watch out. People will often pass along opinions they agree with, and completely ignore the lies propagated in the story. Make sure your opinion does not cause you to overlook the myths, lies, or mis-representations in the story.

Happy reading. And may God grant you discernment on the Internet.

PS: Watch out. I get it wrong sometimes too. Be a good Berean. Check everything in light of scripture. Check everything in light of Truth!

Show Announcement: Abe's 200th Birthday Party

Feb. 12th marks the 200th birthday of ole Abe Lincoln. While there is much clamoring about the "party of Lincoln", there are some major points of history that prompt pause in the celebration. An abolitionist ain't an abolitionist, if you know what I mean.

Bill Federer will join the show this Sunday at 4 pm. Bill writes the American Minute and holds a wealth of knowledge on American History. Federer and a host of others have insight into Ole Abe that you need to know, before heading out to party.

Ann Hettinger, Exec. Director of CWA-Texas will also join the show in the final segment to talk about the upcoming Texas Lobby Day. Read about these and other stories, on THE STACK

Seven Reasons Not to Celebrate Abe's 200th

It's that time of year when Great Presidents are celebrated and this year is Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday. While the United States has elected its first African-American President, and the Republican Nation Committee has elected it's first African-American chairman, the Travis County Republican Party is celebrating President Lincoln at its annual banquet. The Republican Party of late is re-heralding itself as the Party of Lincoln. There are certainly some attributes of Lincoln that are worthy of acclamation, but let the revelers beware. Lincoln exudes attributes that are at the core of the problems facing our nation today.

Here are my top seven reasons you and the Republicans should not be celebrating Lincoln...
7) Lincoln did not believe his election to the Presidency would lead to cession/civil war; it did.
6) Lincoln supported the colonization of blacks (i.e. separation of the races).
5) Lincoln was not a true abolitionist.
4) Lincoln built a large national militia used to destroy citizens of the United States.
3) Lincoln authorized the largest percentage increase in national debt ever seen in the U.S.
2) Lincoln authorized the National Banking Act, paving the way for the Federal Reserve Act.
1) Lincoln's presidency was the fulcrum of destruction for State's Rights.

I agree that slavery needed to be abolished, but an abolitionists is not an abolitionist. Lincoln did accomplish major feats for the circumstances, but at what expense? Consider the impact his presidency had on States Rights. The policies of Lincoln and the emerging Republican Party have become the fulcrum of destruction for the balance of power between State and Federal governments. Of that, I want no part.

Reconstruction following the Civil War was used to create the monstrous banking system that now manipulates the world economy. The National Banking Act and other similar laws adopted under Lincoln were the catalyst for destroying interstate competition in banking and general free-market competition between The States.

This period in time birthed an explosion in the size and power of federal government. While, I am certainly opposed to slavery, I am also opposed to the Federal Government imposing itself upon the States and forcing its will upon the people.

While it is rightfully in vogue to celebrate Civil Rights progress, is the destruction of State Rights an identity that Republicans desire to be associated with?
