Led by Representative Warren Chisum and the Free Market Foundation, the 80th Texas Legislature (2007) passed a bill that affirmed the right of public schools to offer an Elective Bible Class. House Bill 1287 also requires public High Schools to offer an Elective Bible Class beginning in the 2009-2010 school year, when 15 or more students sign-up. This is not a Theology class; it is historical, cultural and literary in nature.
